2026 Fitzroy River Barra Bash

The Garmin Fitzroy River Barra Bash is Australia's premier catch and release barramundi fishing competition, bringing anglers from across the country to the world-renowned Fitzroy River in Rockhampton, Queensland.

Following another record-breaking event in 2025, the Barra Bash continues to showcase why the Fitzroy River's net-free zone is recognised as one of Australia's best destinations for trophy barramundi and king threadfin salmon fishing. In 2025 alone, competitors landed an incredible 764 barramundi, including 273 fish over one metre, along with 111 king threadfin salmon, setting new benchmarks for the tournament and the fishery.

The 2026 Garmin Fitzroy River Barra Bash will be held from 18 to 21 October 2026, with 105 teams of two anglers competing across three exciting days of fishing for a share of more than $100,000 in cash, prizes and giveaways.
