Frenchville Sports Club Takes Top Honours at 2021 Clubs Queensland Awards

Frenchville Sports Club has been announced as the winner of Best Multi Sports Club in Queensland at the Annual Clubs Queensland & Keno Awards night.

Frenchville Sports Club General Manager, Damien Massingham said that this was the first time the Club has won this award and it was great recognition of the dedicated work done by a range of people.

“This award is recognition of the massive amount of work that has been done by Board Directors, Management, staff and our volunteers including sporting committee members and supporters over a number of years, and in particular, the last 12 months. It is particularly significant to receive this award after one of the toughest years that the Club has experienced with the Government restrictions imposed on the Club due to COVID19 pandemic.”

“During this enormously challenging year, our team have shown tremendous spirit and dedication to the entire Frenchville community. The Club never closed it’s doors to the community, providing takeaway meals and beverages during the severe restrictions, and following a mighty effort from our team and volunteer sports committee members, all of our sports returned to play when restrictions lifted.”

“The Club was able to return to full services in July last year and the team have worked hard to ensure our members and guests enjoy the best Club service and experience not only in Central Queensland, but as now recognized, the State.”

In addition to the Club winning Best Multi Sport Club, the Club’s Human Resource Manager, Elena Cornick was recognized as Young Manager of the Year. Mr Massingham added “We are immensely proud of Elly in her achievements and were delighted to see her recognized at this elite level in front of her industry peers. Her contributions to FSC have been essential to our success over the past few years, and in 2020 in particular, Elly has done an outstanding job in the most challenging employment relations year of any year for any club.”

“ This past 12 months, Elly was not only the Club’s HR Manager, but also a friendly ear, a professional adviser, a Government liaison, a Centrelink expert, a champion of positivity, a communication hub, a mental health advocate, a sporting enthusiast and an industry support. Elly embodies everything that is loved about the Frenchville Sports Club – she is passionate about the betterment of her local community, gets involved at every chance and we were thrilled to see her recognised as Clubs Queensland’s Young Manager of 2021.”
