Frenchville Sports Club Redevelopment Recognised as Region's Best

Frenchville Sports Club’s landmark redevelopment has received a major industry recognition, with project partner Ashley Cooper Construction taking home four awards at the 2026 Master Builders Queensland Central Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.
The Frenchville Sports Club redevelopment won the prestigious 2026 McInnes Wilson Lawyers Project of the Year, while also winning the categories of Commercial Fitout over $10 million, Retail Facilities over $5 million and Tourism and Leisure Facilities over $10 million.
The recognition follows the completion of Frenchville Sports Club’s $25 million, multi-stage redevelopment, one of the largest transformations in the Club’s history and a major investment in the future of hospitality, sport and community facilities in Central Queensland.
Frenchville Sports Club CEO Damien Massingham said the awards were an outstanding acknowledgement of the scale and complexity of the project and the quality of the completed works by Ashley Cooper Construction.
“This redevelopment was about creating something our members and the wider Central Queensland community could be proud of for generations to come,” Mr Massingham said.
“To see the project recognised at this level is incredibly rewarding and a credit to everyone who contributed to bringing our vision to life. In particular, I wish to thank and congratulate the team at Ashley Copper Constructions for their professionalism and commitment. Their solution-based approach to this significant renovation ensured the success of the project."
Delivered across four major construction stages while Frenchville Sports Club remained operational, the redevelopment transformed virtually every aspect of the venue.
The project introduced a new reception and gaming room, Aroma’s Café, Luxe Lounge, The Atrium, Dusk Lounge, a new Sports Bar, Embers Bistro, the Kids Clubhouse and a modern Function Centre, creating a more contemporary, welcoming and versatile destination for members, families, sporting participants and the wider community.
Frenchville Sports Club CEO Damien Massingham said delivering the project within a live hospitality and sporting environment required an extraordinary level of collaboration.
“Ashley Cooper Construction has been an exceptional partner throughout this journey, and these awards are thoroughly deserved,” Mr Massingham said.
“We also acknowledge BSPN Architecture, our local contractors and suppliers, our Board, staff and members, all of whom played an important role in delivering what has been a transformational project for Frenchville.”
Chairman of Frenchville Sports Club Mr Graeme Brady said the awards represented more than recognition for the buildings themselves.
“Frenchville Sports Club has always been about bringing people together,” Mr Brady said.
“These new facilities strengthen our ability to support local sport, provide great hospitality and entertainment experiences, host major community and corporate events and continue reinvesting back into the region.”
“The redevelopment is an investment in the future of our Club, but importantly, it is also an investment in the community we have proudly served since 1948.”
The Master Builders Queensland recognition adds another significant milestone to Frenchville Sports Club’s redevelopment journey and celebrates a project designed to serve Central Queensland for generations to come.
