Frenchville Sports Club launches Junior Performance Program
20 May 2022
The Frenchville Sports Club, alongside Thomo’s Betta Home Living, have introduced the Junior Performance Program with an aim to develop our next top athletes.
The program will allow those who are showing promise in any sport run by Frenchville Sports Club to be potentially helped with financial assistance in their sport.
That means juniors in hockey, rugby, soccer, netball, basketball, wheelchair basketball, cricket and softball could have the opportunity to have some of that financial pressure lifted off their shoulders.
With the Brisbane 2032 Olympics just a decade away, the program comes at an opportune time as many junior athletes, who could benefit from the JPP, will be entering their prime for our home state’s Olympics. And it’s not just travelling and financial assistance, the Frenchville Sports Club will be providing nutrition and coaching clinics throughout the year.
Frenchville Sports Club General Manager Damien Massingham said the initiative was put together to help local sporting juniors develop their game to the next level.
“People who are showing promise in any of the sports offered by the club in Central Queensland, they can apply to this program for financial assistance in their sport,” he said.
“That can be to attend regional carnivals, heading to Brisbane, purchasing sports equipment, things that might be a little bit outside the general ability to advance themselves. So it’s basically providing financial assistance to young people to develop in sport."
“This is a great fit because this helps locals get into sport and as we get close to the Olympics which is only ten years away, I think this is a way that we can really help young Central Queenslanders advance in their sport".
"And we’re really happy that Thomo’s Betta Home Living has got on board.”
Thomo’s Betta Home Living’s Chris Thomasson said the team was proud to be a key component of the program.
“We’ve partnered with the Frenchville Sports Club for about three years now,” he said.
“We were interested in getting involved with a junior sport and then Damien and his team came up with this new initiative and presented it to us. It’s a really great initiative and as Damien said, there’s a junior who could be playing sport here now but in ten years’ time, they could represent their country at the Olympics".
"To be part of that now and to see those juniors supported is good for us and we get to support those juniors and their families.”
