The Frenchville Sports Club, a cornerstone of the community, celebrated its 75th anniversary over the weekend with a series of festivities. Founded in 1948 by a group of dedicated parents and volunteers, the club has been providing sports and recreational activities for children and adults alike for decades.

The weekend kicked off with an Anniversary Lunch, where over 130 members of the Frenchville family gathered to celebrate. Club patron Mrs Merle Black was also in attendance, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Following the luncheon, the Club hosted the Inaugural Heritage Cup Match, a historical event that celebrated the connection between the Frenchville Roos and the Nerimbera Football Club. The Frenchville Roos emerged victorious over Nerimbera with a 6-2 win, much to the delight of the cheering crowd.

The weekend concluded with a Members Day, which was filled with excitement and fun for everyone. Over $10,000 in cash giveaways were awarded, while children enjoyed free fairy floss, face painting, and balloon art.

Frenchville Sports Club Chairman Graeme Brady OAM expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the weekend's festivities.

“We are so proud of what we have achieved over the past 75 years,” said Mr Brady.

“The Frenchville Sports Club has been a cornerstone of our community for generations, and it’s an honour to be part of such an amazing legacy.”

“The Club was recently recognized as Queensland’s Club of the Year (Grand) at the annual Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence. This achievement is due in large part to the hard work and dedication of its members, volunteers and sports people who have helped make it a success over the years.”

As the weekend’s celebrations came to a close, the Frenchville Sports Club looks forward to many more years of providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for the community to relax, unwind, and enjoy.
