Frenchville Sports Club Backs 10 Young Athletes on Representative Journey

Ten promising young Central Queensland athletes are one step closer to competing on the representative stage thanks to funding from Frenchville Sports Club's Junior Performance Program.

A total of $1,900 has been awarded through Round 2 of the 2026 program, supporting athletes selected to represent Central Queensland, Capricornia and Queensland in basketball, football, rugby and softball.

The recipients include two Central Queensland representatives, seven Capricornia representatives and one Queensland representative, with funding helping families cover the costs of travel, accommodation, uniforms, registration fees and other expenses associated with representative sport.

Since launching in 2022, Frenchville Sports Club's Junior Performance Program has provided more than $50,000 to help local junior athletes pursue opportunities beyond their local competition.

Proudly supported by Thomo's Betta Home Living and Dr Bradley Richmond, the program also gives recipients access to services including strength and conditioning, nutrition advice and sports psychology to support their long-term development.

Frenchville Sports Club Chairman Graeme Brady OAM said investing in young athletes was an investment in the future of the region.

"Every representative selection reflects countless hours of training, commitment and sacrifice from both the athletes and their families," Mr Brady said.

"We're incredibly proud to support these young people as they take the next step in their sporting journey and represent our region at higher levels."

"Representative sport can be expensive, particularly when travel is involved, so we hope this funding eases some of that financial pressure and allows families to focus on enjoying these incredible opportunities."

Frenchville Sports Club Sports Manager Margi Keyworth said the program continued to strengthen sporting pathways for young people across Central Queensland.

"It's exciting to see athletes from a range of different sports achieving representative success," Ms Keyworth said.

"Whether they're representing Central Queensland, Capricornia or Queensland, each athlete has earned their place through hard work and dedication. We're proud to play a small part in helping them continue that journey."
